On the catering list

The one thing I said I’d never do, when we opened, was have an exclusive catering list.

We held that position for one hundred and fifty weddings. Then we encountered a series of failures I could no longer treat as exceptions.

A caterer arrived two hours late and the cocktail hour stretched into something neither we nor the couple had planned. A caterer ran out of food, and the last table left early, unfed. A caterer sent us a forged health department license.

These were not the only ones. None of them were the couple’s fault. All of them happened on a day a couple only gets once.

We changed the policy after that. Thoroughly, and with intention. We would rather correct a position than hold one that no longer serves the couples we are here for.

The list does not exist to limit your choices. It exists to protect your day. Cliffside’s catering list is closed, but it is extensive, with partners at every price point. Every caterer on it is someone we trust completely. The work isn’t to weigh good against bad. It’s to find the one who feels most like you.

These are people we have come to know well. They arrive early. They bring enough food. They feed every guest. They treat the day with the seriousness it deserves, and they treat our couples with the kind of care we hope you have already come to expect from us. Most of them earned their place over years, long before we asked them to be partners.

The standard we ask them to hold is closer to restaurant service than to traditional catering. Our partners stay through the end of the night. They bus tables. They help with desserts. They take out the trash. They are part of how the evening ends, not only how it begins. The couples who marry here usually don’t notice this directly, but they do notice that the night flowed.

The range is wider than most couples expect. Wood-fired pizza on one end, white-glove four-course service on the other, and a careful middle where most of our weddings find themselves. Whatever your day is meant to feel like, there is a partner on this list who can build the food around that feeling.

These are the people we trust with your day.
We’re glad to introduce you.

Hudson’s Edge Catering

A London-based company built around from-scratch cooking and farm-to-table sourcing. They offer the full range of service styles, from buffet to plated, and bring a level of care to both the food and the logistics that makes the day easier to manage.

Little Miami River

A Dayton staple known for BBQ, comfort food, and a team that makes the process straightforward from the first conversation. They do what they do well, and couples who want approachable, crowd-pleasing food in a straightforward format find them to be exactly right.

Sweet Carrot

A Columbus-based team and our newest addition to the list. They specialize in gourmet comfort food with an elevated BBQ focus — the kind of menu that feels casual and considered at the same time.

Bella Sorella

Wood-fired pizzas made from farm-to-table ingredients, cooked on-site by a Dayton-based team that has turned the pizza moment into something couples and guests talk about long after the day is over. A natural fit for the couple who wants something distinctive.

Bernstein's Catering

A Dayton institution with more than three decades of experience. They’re known for plated service and substantial passed hors d'oeuvres, and they bring a polished, formal sensibility to the reception.

The Berwick

An Italian catering company with roots going back to 1955. They care about food and they care about family, and that combination tends to show up in the way a reception with them actually feels.

Elite Catering

A Dayton-based company known for creative menus, strong presentation, and an events team that thinks carefully about the experience from arrival through the last course.

Lindey's

A Columbus institution with nearly four decades of reputation behind it. White glove service, fine dining sensibility, and menu options that position the meal as a centerpiece of the reception rather than a backdrop to it.

Together & Co.

Full-service, luxury catering based in Columbus with an emphasis on custom menus, attentive coordination, and an experience that reflects the premium side of the market.
